Biography

Silas Scarborough(b. Ark.10 Nov.1829) and 2nd wife, Mary Hart, had the following children:King, James D.(Daniel)(my hubby's direct ancestor), Thomas Paschal, Mary Ida & Bessie Lee. This info is from census data as well as info from "Pioneers of Anderson County, Texas", found at rootsweb.com under the usgenweb, Anderson, TX, heading. Silas Scarborough was a renowned minister, being listed in the 1870 Hood Co. TX census, family 166:(note spelling) SILUS SCARBER, age 50, (occupation "Campbellite Preacher"), wife Mary, age 34,children listed: Sarah, 13, William 12, Laura, 8, Franklin 8, King 5, James, 3, & Rachel 2.(I have more on Silas Scarborough's life as a minister from info found on ancestry.com-"Gospel Preachers Who Blazed The Trail", excerpted from book, "Gospel Preachers in Texas and Oklahoma", written by Mrs. C. R. Nichol & published by Clifton in Texas in 1911. This book was reprinted in 1962 by the Firm Foundation in Austin, TX as "Gospel Preachers Who Blazed The Trail".) James Daniel Scarborough, b.25 Jan.1867, married Ida C. Eaker, 7 Feb. 1890, Erath Co., TX. Ida C. Eaker was the daughter of William Armstrong Eaker & Sarah Scarborough. William Eaker & wife,Sarah Ann, are listed in the 1880 Llano, TX. Census, Precinct 4. William Eaker is listed as age 68, Sarah Ann, 49, with William A., son, 13, Sallie, dau, 11, Young, son, 10 and IDA C., dau., age 7. Note, Young Yancey Eaker listed above is the father of Gen. Ira Clarence Eaker, of World War II fame. A biography of Gen. Ira Eaker, by James Parton, "AIR FORCE SPOKEN HERE", has a photo of Young Eaker & his family, including Ira C. Eaker.
