Biography
Dovie, daughter of John B. and Carrie L. Earnest, was born in Randolph County, Alabama, in 1903. She was the sister of Victor, Erin, and Carlos. Dovie's mother died in 1908 and her father in 1919. The US Census of 1920 shows the four children living on their own, with 23-year-old Erin as eldest and Dovie at age 16.
