Alexander Eason was born in 1735. In early life, he traveled on the Continent with Lord Moira, and afterwards was the Army surgeon for the Iniskillin Dragoons (Marquis of Drogheda's). He married Jane Aytoun, a cousin once removed, in 1780. Dr. Eason was celebrated for his work with the poor in Manchester. In 1796, while riding out to see a patient, he was thrown from his horse and broke his neck; he was paralyzed from the neck down, and died a fortnight later aged 61.
