Note: 1) Obit for B.E. Eason, Sr. (Eugene Basil Eason) from the Arkansas Gazette: Funeral rites for Basil Eugene Eason, 69, who died April 28 in a Little Rock hospital, were conducted here Friday. Born August 30, 1895, near DeWitt, he was the son of the late Samuel and Marcella Taymon Eason, and spent his entire life - other than the time he served in the United States Army during World War I - in Arkansas County. He was engaged in farming until moving to DeWitt 21 years ago, when he entered the real estate business and began operation of Eason Hotel and the city's first taxi service. He married Miss Velma Jones June 1, 1919 and she survives him. Other survivors include; three daughters, Mrs. Truitt Hayes of Little Rock; Mrs. Billy Boyd and Mrs. Floyd Ray Hall of DeWitt; two sons, Norman and Basil Jr., of DeWitt; three sisters Mrs. Eston Parker and Mrs. Garnett Hearn of DeWitt and Mrs. Louis James of Little Rock, and nine grandchildren. Two children, Dorothy Virginia and James Everett, preceeded him in death. Mr. Eason was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for a number of years. He was a member and past commander of Brown-Wright Post of the American Legion. In charge of the service at First Baptist Church here were Rev. Homer Bradley, pastor; Rev. Steve Parker of Clarendon, a nephew of the deceased and Rev. John Tackett of Little Rock. Burial was in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Service. Graveside military rites were conducted by Brown-Wright American Legion Post. Active pallbearers included: Bill Winkler, Bill Norsworthy, Bill Weatherford, Tom Hayes, Godfrey Thomas, L.R. Dearing, A.C. Smith and R.J. Rawlings. Honorary pallbears were Floyd McGahhey, J.W. Lorick, M.D. Braswell, Lawrence Fox and Dr. L.H. Whitehead.
