George Edward East was born at Rochester in Kent on the 4th of May 1899. [1][2] He was son of bootmaker Edwin East and his wife, Agnes Chaplin, living in Gillingham in 1911.[3]
With the coming of the Great War George enlisted in 1917, aged 17.[4]
Claiming to be married but living alone at 32 Herbert Rd Gillingham when the World War II register was taken George earned his living as a boot repairer on his own account.[1]
He died in 1960, his death being registered at Willesden. [5]
