Mary married Jesse Gravitt on the 14th of February 1818 in Madison County, Alabama.[1] The ceremony was performed by the Justice of the Peace.[2] Their son William Henry Gravitt was born in 1840. They had at least five known children.
In 1850 Jesse and Mary were living in Limestone County, Alabama.[3] Jesse, fifty-three, worked as an overseer.[3] Mary, age fifty, took care of the home and family. Both were listed as being born in Virginia.[3] Their son Larkin, thirty, worked as a farmer.[3] He, Vincent (13) and Alexander (11) were all listed as born in Alabama.[3] Both Vincent and Alexander attended school that year.[3]
Jesse died before the 1860 census was taken.[4] Mary was age sixty and listed as the head of household and a widow.[4] Her son Yancy and his family lived near her, as did William Gravet and his family.[4] On the other side was the young widow Sarah Gravet and her six children.[4]
Mary, age seventy, lived in Polk, Arkansas in 1870.[5] She was listed as a Farmer with $1,000 real estate and $100 personal estate. Benjamin Stiles lived in the home with her. He was twenty-six, a farmer, and was born in Missouri.[5] There was a Dave Gravit two houses down, age thirty.[5] Sarah Gravit and family, as well as William D. Gravit and family, lived not far from her.[5]
Mary died after 1870 in Polk, Arkansas.
