John Easterling was born September 19, 1837, in Georgia, son of James Easterling and Dicey Simmons Easterling[1]. In 1850, he lived in Liberty County, Georgia with his parents and siblings[2].
He married Emily Surrency. In 1860, they lived in Liberty County, Georgia[3].
John Easterling was a private serving the Confederate States of America (CSA), but was released from military service after he was elected sheriff of Liberty County, Georgia.
By 1870, still in Georgia, they had added Martha, Hampton, Mary, Eliza, and Emily J. to their family[4]
