Biography

Born in Savanna, IL. Graduated from Hanover High School in Hanover, IL in 1975. Graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering in 1979 and 1982, respectively. Graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY with a Ph.D. in Materials Science in 1985. Was an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institut für Metallforschung in Stuttgart, Germany from 1985-1987. Employed as a materials scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, near Chicago, IL, since 1987.
