Biography

William was born on July 22, 1797 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. He was the son of William Easton and Agnes Neil.[1]

William immigrated to New Brunswick, date unknown. He married Catherine McGary on April 6, 1825 in Newcastle, Northumberland County, New Brunswick.[2] Their daughter Ellen was born in 1826 in Prince Edward Island.

It is presumed that William died prior to 1841, when his wife Catherine remarried,[3] but this is unconfirmed. As well, it is unknown whether he died in Prince Edward Island or in New Brunswick.

Research Note (DNA)

The birth date, place and parents of the Wiliam Easton who married Catherine McGary are based on an autosomnal DNA match between a descendant of William Easton and a descendant of John Easton, estimated 2nd to 4th cousins, based on a 20.78 cM segment on Chr 5 and an 8.3 cM segment on Chr 7. If this link is correct, the relationship between the two test takers is 3rd cousins, twice removed. The match has not yet been triangulated, so is not confirmed.
