Biography

Jacob was born in 1805 to John Eaton and Mary Kimball. He died in 1888. His birth and christening are shown in the NH Index. Death recorded in 1888. He married Alma Tyler and had 4 children (see below)

Dr. Jacob S. Eaton life story: In 1868 Jacob Sawyer Eaton bought a home located at 1 Elm Street, Harvard, MA, from the Harvard Congregational Church. He died 5 Sept. 1888 at 83 years of age and is buried in the Harvard Center Cemetery. His wife, Alma Ellery (Tyler) died Nov. 21, 1899 at 84y. 10 m. She is also buried in the cemetery. The couple were married in Harvard, MA Sept. 20, 1849. Dr. Jacob (widower) age 44 and Alma age 34. (Have not found a first wife for Jacob) Jacob and Alma Eaton had 4 children born to them in Stow and Deerfield, MA. before they returned to live in Harvard. Their daughter, Alma Tyler Eaton b. 1857 came to live with them in the house in Harvard and was married there to Dr. Herbert B. Royal on 19 June 1889. The couple continued to live in the house the rest of their lives. They are also buried in Harvard in the Harvard Center Cemetery. In a deed dated 12 April 1893 James Ellery Eaton of Toledo, Ohio 'in consideration of love for my sister Alma T. Royal of Harvard, Worcester County, Mass. and in consideration of the service and tender care given by her to our aged Mother Alma E. Eaton and in consideration that she will continue to give our Mother like service and care during the remainder of said Mother's life, I James E. Eaton do heareby release to said sister Alma T. Royal all my rights and interest I have and may have under the will of our deceased father Jacob S. Eaton executed by him on the 13th day of December 1883.
