Biography

Solomon Eaton was born in December 1773 at LIttle Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine. He was the son of Eliakim Eaton and his wife, Mary (Bunker) Eaton. He was a mariner (merchant marine sailor).

He had 3 wives: Solomon married (1): Catherine Howard, daughter of Benjamin H. Howard and Margaret Mitchell, about 1798 in Brooksville, Hancock, Maine. She died on 20 January 1820. Solomon then married (2): Mary Billings, b: 1 Mar 1795, daughter of Daniel Billings and Catherine Carter, on 9 April 1820 at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine; she died in December 1839, after the birth of daughter, Lucy Eaton. Solomon married (3): Martha (Howard) Tibbets, daughter of Benjamin H. Howard and Margaret Mitchell; she was a sister of his late 1st wife & a widow. They married 13 September 1840. Solomon Eaton passed away at his home in Swan's Cove, Little Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine, on 22 February 1858 Æ 74y 2m. He was buried at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine, USA.^[1][2]
