Claudia Ebert passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, sister, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and pastor.
A lifelong resident of Modesto, Claudia graduated with the Downey High class of 1962.
Following graduation, Claudia attended Berkeley and in 1964 married fellow Modesto resident Russell Thomas, to whom she was married for 20 years and with whom she had two children.
Claudia worked at the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency for almost 20 years, and after retiring from the county, worked at the Stanislaus County Library and as a traveling notary public.
Previously a member of the Ceres Seventh-Day Adventist church, she was an active member of the La Loma Grace Brethren church in Modesto.
She is survived by her son, Dane Thomas and his wife Eva-Mari and children Erik and Johanna of Stockholm, Sweden; by her daughter, Amanda Thomas of Portland, OR; by her sister, Monica Ebert of Willows, CA; and by her brothers Michael Ebert of Tucson, AZ and Stephen Ebert of Seattle, WA.
She had many friends in Modesto and beyond, and will be remembered for her generosity, unconditional love, and for her sparkling wit.
Claudia's memorial service will be held at the La Loma Grace Brethren church in Modesto on Saturday, November 11 at 2:00 pm, with a potluck dessert reception to follow.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Monday, November 13 at 10:40 am at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.
People wishing to attend the memorial and/or the graveside ceremony are encouraged to wear bright colors in a celebration of life.
