John Eby, the son of Nicholas Eby and Christina Biehler, was born in March 1852 and immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1853, first to New York, then to Wisconsin. In 1900 he was 48, single, a teacher, living with his mother and his younger sister Lena, a dressmaker.[1] A card in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mennonite Vital Records indicates that John, the son of Nicholas Eby and Christina Buehler, was born in 1851, and mentions Rhinelander, Wisconsin.[2]
