John Eccles was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1903.[1] He was the son of William James Eccles and Mary Carew.

He won the 1963 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work in neuroscience.

John died in Tenero-Contra, Switzerland in 1997.
