Research Notes
The town of Eden was named, in 1883, for "Frederick Ede, native of England and pioneer ranchman on whose land the town was located, and who donated land for this public square. Farming and ranching area."[4]. He moved to Concho County in 1881 with his family. In 1882 he designated 40 acres of his land as a townsite.[5], [6]. "Fred Ede was appointed as the first post master of Eden in 1883"[7]. Fred is thought to have emmigrated to America in the 1870s[8]
