The birth of Francis Robert Henley was registered in the St George Hannover Square district of London in the 2nd quarter of 1877 with his mother's maiden name recorded as Jekyll.^[1]

Francis Robert Eden, 6th Baron Henley of Chardstock was born on 11 April 1877.1 He was the son of Anthony Henley, 3rd Baron Henley of Chardstock and Clare Campbell Lucy Jekyll.1,2 He married Lady Dorothy Georgiana Howard, daughter of George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle and Hon. Rosalind Frances Stanley, on 14 October 1913.2 He died on 21 April 1962 at age 85.2 He was given the name of Francis Robert Henley at birth.1 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1900 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1904 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baron Henley of Chardstock, co. Dorset [I., 1799] on 23 October 1925.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baron Northington of Watford, co. Northampton [U.K., 1885] on 23 October 1925.1 On 11 December 1925 his name was legally changed to Francis Robert Eden by Deed Poll.1
