Rex was born in 1914. He was the son of Cleve Edgar and Suzanna Piper. He passed away in 1994.

Rex Duane EDGAR, 80, a longtime resident of Priest River, Idaho, died in Spokane on Sept. 3, 1994.

He was born on 16 Jul 1914, to Cleveland EDGAR & Susan PIPER Edgar @ Polk, York Co; Nebraska, USA ...... the 2nd of 7 children. In 1918, the family moved to a homestead in South Dakota where Rex attended a country school. His formal education was completed with the 7th grade at the Friberg School nr Newell, Butte Co; South Dakota in 1930. He worked on farms and at wood cutting.

In 1934, Rex enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). During his term of enlistment, he helped in launching two stratosphere balloons. The first one failed. The second one soared to 60,000 feet.

He arrived with family members at Coeur d' Alene, Kootenai Co; Idaho, in September 1936. They camped the first night on a pine covered track which now is the campus of North Idaho College.

After helping his family establish a whole new way of life in North Idaho, Rex and his brother, Glen, worked together in logging jobs and later at construction work at Farragut Naval Base. He also helped build Boundary, Albany Falls, Hungry Horse, & Cabinet Gorge Dams.

He owned and operated West Branch Truck Stop in Priest River from 1962 - 64, worked eight years for the Bonner County Road Department building or reconstructing every road in District No. 2, and then spent 13 years with Merritt Bros Lumber Co., at Priest River. He retired in 1979 and became an avid golfer and fisherman.

Several years later Rex fell in love with 2 children and said he had to marry their mother to get them.

Rex D. EDGAR m Marjorie Elaine (MURMAN) Foss 18 Dec 1951 @ Coeur d' Alene, Kootenai Co; Idaho, USA & adopted her children from prior marriage: Marsha FOSS & Timothy Clarence FOSS. Rex D. & Marjorie Elaine had three children together; Michael (m Sabrina Rambowski) EDGAR, Esther EDGAR (Mrs Ernie BOOTH) & Vicki EDGAR.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Ranch Club Golf Course,and Priest River Boat Club.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Elaine FOSS Edgar, at home in Priest River; 4 daughters; Janet Howard of Seattle, Marsha Thompson of Oldtown, Bonner Co; Idaho, Esther Booth of Athol, idaho & Vicki Leaming of Elk City, Oregon; 2 sons, Jerry Edgar of Vancouver, Washington & Mike Edgar of Plummer, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Lee Johnson of Post Falls; 2 brothers, Mike Edgar of Newport & Glen Edgar of Priest River, idaho + numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith McGEE Edgar; a son, Timothy Edgar; and three sisters, Ima EDGAR Hardt, Esther EDGAR Mattson, and Betty EDGAR Grey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 7, at the Community Congregational Church in Priest River. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests memorials in Rex's name to the Ranch Club Junior Golf Program.
