William Edgar was born around 1859 in Ashington, Northumberland, England, the son of Ellinor Burrell and Robert Edgar.[1]

At the time of the 1871 England Census, William was 12 years old, living at Sleekburn, West Colliery, Bedlington, Northumberland with his parents and siblings, and was employed as a coal miner.[1]

William died in 1941 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[2]
