Biography

Robert, son of John Edgar & Isobel Aitchison, was born on 17 June 1825 and baptised on 29 June 1825 in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.^[1][2]

In 1841 he was age 15 and living with his parents and siblings in Moffat, he was listed as an Agricultural labourer.^[3][4]

Robert married Ann Porteous on 8 December 1848 in Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland.^[5]

Grace, daughter of Robert Edgar & Ann Porteous, was baptised on 13 July 1851 in , Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland.^[6]

John, son of Robert Edgar & Ann Porteous, was born on 25 February 1853 and baptised on 25 February 1853 in , Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland.^[7]

James, son of Robert Edgar & Ann Porteous, was born on 9 February 1855 in Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland.^[8]

In the 1881 census Robert (age 55), Linestock Agent, was the head of household at 310 Cathcart Road, Glasgow Gorbals, Lanarkshire.^[11]

In the 1891 census Robert (age 64), Live Stock Salesmans, was the head of household at 34 Garturk St, Glasgow Govan, Lanarkshire.^[12]
