George was born on 28 January 1900 in Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa, the youngest or second youngest (he was a twin) of eleven children and the youngest of five sons of Thomas Edgar and Kate Kratzer.
George died of unknown about 1976 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was probably in his mid-seventies.

Gladwin changed his given name to George in the late 1940's ..... He married and divorced and died without issue.
