Elizabeth (age full), (no father's name given) of Bangor, married James Wellens, Blacksmith, (age full), widower, of Malpas son of John Wellens, Blacksmith, on 12 July 1839 in Malpas, Cheshire, England.[1]
Their marriage was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1839 in the Wrexham district.[2]
The image on the FamilySearch website of the official entry of marriage, clearly shows the groom's surname to be Wellens and not Wellings but both bride and groom signed with a cross so were probably unable to read and unaware of what had been written in the entry - this leaves room for doubt.
Malpas is close to the Welsh border which probably explains the registration district being in Wrexham, Wales, rather than England. Elizabeth's residence at the time of her marriage is likely to refer to Bangor-on-Dee, Flintshire rather than the more distant Bangor, Caernarfonshire. Hughes-14320 23:34, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
