Billy Huff added the following biography written by Max K Huff of Houston, TX:


DANIEL AND LYDIA HOUGH OF CT AND NH

Daniel HOUGH (12 Jan 1752 Bozrah, CT - 11 Sep 1820 Lebanon, NH) moved to NH about 1774. He md, either in CT or in NH, to Lydia EDGERTON (31 Jul 1761 Norwich, CT - 12 Mar 1846 NH), dau of Asa and Hannah (GRISWOLD) EDGERTON. About the time of their marriage, Daniel HOUGH and Lemuel HOUGH were two of the citizens of Lebanon, NH, who signed the papers associating them with the Revolutionary cause. Daniel enrolled in Capt John HOUSE's Comp, Col BALDWIN's Regt, and was paid for 284 miles of travel while in service. Another service record show Daniel HUFF as a pvt in Col Chase's Regiment of NH Militia. After the War, he lived in Lebanon until his death. His widow, Lydia HOUGH, received Widow's Pension W16029. Their ch were:

1. Wade (3 Oct 1781 NH - 4 Mar 1868 Brooklyn, NY) md Mary Jane PLUMMER (22 Oct 1792 Savannah, GA - 8 Nov 1873 NY) and their ch were Daniel Edgerton; Eliza Ann; Edward Wade; Mary Matilda; James Hamilton; and James Francis. Wade HOUGH was a Collector of Customs at various ports.

2. Philena (10 Feb 1783 NH - 17 Apr 1813 NH) md Col. Edward ?FREEMAN of Hanover, NH, but had no ch.

3. Richard Hyde (25 Sep 1784 NH - 3 Apr 1843 New Orleans, LA) md Sarah SQUIRES and moved to New Orleans. After Richard died, the family moved to CT. Ch were Mary Mehitablel; Richard Hyde, Jr; Elizabeth Hubbell; Sarah Jannette; and Richard Edgerton.

4. Clark (2 May 1786 NH - 11 Sep 1788 NH).

5. Daniel (24 Dec 1787 NH - 14 Dec 1869 St Louis, MO) md on 20 Mar 1820 in Lexington, KY, Emmeline E. ROBERTS (11 Nov 1796 Philadelphia, PA - 27 Apr 1885 St Louis, MO), and settled in St Louis. Ch incl Gibson Gallego; Mary Edgerton; Francis Sanderson; Henry Wade; Heber Allen, and Josephine Eleanor.

6. Sarah (2 Mar 1790 NH - 14 Oct 1802 NH).

7. Clark, 2d (19 June 1792 NH - 15 Nov 1875 Brooklyn, NY) on 3 Sep 1822 in Woodstock, VT,md Sophronia Allen ROYCE ( - 22 Oct 1858 Exeter, NY) and had Henry Royce; Frances Alice; Edward Clark; and Mary Edgerton. He lived in NH but died in NY.

8. Asa Edgerton (4 May 1794 NH - 20 Mar 1846 Potosi WI) md Mary Dorothy Ann QUEEN (1805 DC - 14 Feb 1876 WI and lived in St Louis, MO, IL, and WI. Ch were George Campbell; Lydia Ann; John Edmond; and Mary Edgerton.

9. Lydia Edgerton (5 Oct 1796 NH - 7 Sep 1878 WI) on 8 Jan 1823 md Abner ALLEN and moved to WI. They had two ALLEN ch: Julia Maria and Susan Ann.

10. Polly (29 Nov 1900 NH - 7 Oct 1825 NH) on 7 Jan 1823 md Ammi B. YOUNG and had one YOUNG ch: Helen Seria.

It is said that Lydia's half-sister, Molly EDGERTON, md Azel HOUGH.

Hough lineage is Daniel and Lydia (Edgerton) of CT and NH; David and Desire (Clark) of CT; John and Hannah (Dennison) of CT; John and Sarah (Post) of MA and CT; William and Sarah (Caulkins) of England, MA, and CT.
