Hello --

We've made a change in how the tutorials are sent to new members. Instead of weekly messages you can now work at your own pace.

How is it going so far? Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi Rhea

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour. This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. Plenty of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!I

For your family research you might like to explore active projects to find a project to aid your research. Look at the German Roots project, North Carolina in the United States History Project.

Please let me know if you have questions. :-)

I just wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. If you have any questions about WikiTree please feel free to contact me. Michelle~WikiTree Mentor

Rhea, take a look at hans Georg Hechler-2

and see if that profile seems to align with your family research.

see also Johann Hechler-1. He is my direct ancestor. I've tried to clean up some of the original information I found here--but then got diverted into other branches and have not been able to spend any time clearing up anything upstream from John Hackler-42

I've got much more to add to John's family--so far I've just added my direct ancestor (his son, Jacob).

I look forward to seeing this Hechler/Hackler family's information getting more clarity! Nick

Welcome Rhea!

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Were any of your ancestors involved in the American Indian Wars?

See you, Cindy

Hi Rhea!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team! And it is completely FREE!

If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, first confirm your email address. Then please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tags and Volunteer.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Thanks, Cindy
