Research Notes

  • His first wife, Ann Erskine, is shown in the Peerage.com (citing Burke's Peerage) as daughter of David Erskine, 2nd Lord Cardross. He died in 1671, and, if Ann was born in 1692, she cannot have been his daughter. Her baptism record establishes that she was David Erskine's granddaughter.[3]
