Elbridge Gery Edson was born in New York about 1823.
He came west to Oregon in 1843, driving a wagon for Daniel Matheny.
Charlotte Matheny, in her memoir, tells that Edson teased her about trading her to an Indian for a buffalo robe; she did not ride with him again.
He married Mary"Polly" Garrison, daughter of Enoch Garrison about 1848. Elbridge passed away after 1897, probably in California.
