John was born in 1777. He was the son of Thomas Edwards and Elizabeth Martin. He passed away in 1852.[1]
State of Illinois- Montgomery County: In the matter of the Genealogy of The Edwards family and descendants of Thomas Edwards-1891
John W Edwards of Litchfield County and state aforesaid, being duly sworn, on his oath deposes and says that he was born in Jackson County, East Tennessee on Mill Creek on the 22nd day of Dec. 1831, also
Mrs. Elizabeth Morand of Chadron in the county of Doss in the state of Nebraska, being duly sworn, to her oath deposes and says that she was born in Buncome County in the State of North Carolina on the 15th day of December, 1811, and both of the above named affiants further state that they were (the former) a son, ( and the latter) a daughter of John Edwards, who was born in Culpepper County, Virginia in 1777, and that he was married to Elizabeth Justice and raised a family of eight boys and two girls,
the oldest being a son named Thomas Jefferson Edwards, who was born in 1810, and raised a family of seven children as follows: 1st Mary, 2nd Jane, 3rd Elizabeth, 4th Martin, 5th Allen, 6th Emily, 7th Rebecca, and that Thomas Jefferson Edwards aforesaid is now deceased.
The second being Elizabeth M Edwards Morand, one of the affiants.
The third being Amos J Edwards, "who is now deceased, but left children as follows: viz: James F, John C, William M M, Asa A, and Amos J.
The fourth being Andrew Striplin, now deceased, and who left children as follows: William M, Mahala and others unknown to affiants.
The fifth being William M., now deceased, who left children as follows: Francis and Newton (now deceased) who left one child. Eveline (now deceased), who left one child. William, Emily, Charles, Annie, Hattie, Stella and Jesse.
The sixth being John W, one of the affiants.
The seventh being Samuel B, now deceased, who left one child as follows: Harriet Sofronia Edwards Luther.
The eighth being Francis O, now deceased, who left one child named Quincy.
The ninth being Rebecca Ann, now deceased, who left four children as follows: William, Samuel, Joanna and Rebecca.
The tenth being Nicholas G, now deceased, who left two children as follows: John and Dora.
Affiants further say that William Moor, Joseph Moor, George Moor, Bell Moor Curr and Susie Moor Alexander are true descendants of their family, they being grandchildren of John Edwards, who was a son of William Edwards, who was a brother of affiant's father.
Affiants further say that the brothers and sisters of their father were named as follows: MARTIN, CHARLES, ELLIS, THOMAS WILLIAM, ANDREW S and ELIZABETH who married a man by the name of Carrick and NANCY who married a man by the name of WILLIAMS.
