Noah Edwards was an American patriot who served as a Sergeant in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. See below for the official account of his military service.[5]
Following the successful conclusion of the American Revolution, Noah Edwards and his youngest children decided to leave Northampton, seeking better farmlands about 25 miles south in a new settlement named "Westfield" in Hampden County, close to the Connecticut border. They lived there, no doubt with frequent trips back and forth to Northampton, the rest of their lives. Jerusha (Alvord) Edwards died on Dec. 26, 1798 in Westfeld, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, USA. She was interred at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA. [6]
On September 11, 1799, Noah Edwards, now 77 years old, remarried, this time to Elizabeth Burt, b: May 6, 1726 in Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay province. She was the widow of Timothy Wright, Dorcas (Wright) Edwards' father.[7][8] Noah Edwards died on September 3, 1805 in Westfield, Massachusetts. He was buried next to his 1st wife, Jerusha (Alvord) Edwards at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA. [9] Elizabeth (Burt) (Wright) Edwards survived his passing. She moved back to Westhampton, Hampshire Co., no doubt into the home of one of her children, and died there on January 17, 1815. She was buried next to her 1st husband, as was the custom, in the Bridge Street Cemetery, Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts, USA. [10]
