George was born on 12 June 1834 in Western Australia. He probably left the colony with his parents in 1848 for Tasmania on the Waterlily.[1]
George and Margaret married at the Saint Andrew's Church of England, in Braidwood. They were living at Little River near Braidwood, George was a gold digger at the time. his occupation is given as a boat builder on his daughter's birth certificate, but he was also a carpenter.
