She was a popular soubrette in the troop of WA entertainers called "The Merrymakers and later the "Green Dandies."

Sunday Times (Perth) Sunday 20th April 1919. ^[1] Miss Freda. Edwards, late soubrette with Edward Fletcher's Merrymakers, is managing a blouse bureau in Sydney.

West Australian Friday 22nd July 1927. ^[2] Mrs. Robert Collie Smith has returned to Perth, and is staying with her brother, Mr. Billy Edwards, and his wife. Mrs. Smith was Miss Freda Edwards, who spent some time in Western Australia with the Green Dandies some years ago. She has come from Sydney and intends, to remain here for some time. It is her intention later to start business in Perth. Mrs. Smith has many friends in Perth.
