* EdwardsGenerations (S238) traces this family backwards before Richard for several generations. I include the generations here who intermarried with the McLellans.
They are an interesting story because many Edwards descendants fought (some died) for the Union. And of course the branch of the family on this site traces a southern set of McLellans, who are about 2nd cousins to this branch, who fought for Louisiana in the confederacy (and some died) in some of the same battles, according to regimental histories.
He and his wife Hannah had a total of 11 children.
