Maria Edwards was born on 8 June 1809 in Gorham, Maine. Her parents were Samuel Edwards and Martha (McLellan) Edwards[1].
She married Joseph Estes on 15 June 1834 in Gorham, Maine[2]. They had eight children[3]:
1. Martha M., born 19 Jul 1835; married William Jones
2. Albert S., born 21 Feb 1837; killed at the Battle of Manassas in 1862
3. Dana, born 4 Mar 1840; married 1st Louise Reid, 2nd Grace Couse
4. Abba A., born 13 Jun 1842
5. Mary H., born 11 Aug 1844; married E.P. Pennell
6. George H., born 10 Jul 1847; died young
7. Ellen M., born 14 Jun 1849; married Edward Hooper
8. Harriet A., born 12 Aug 1851; married A.P. Ayer
Maria passed away on 21 April 1893[4] and is buried in Eastern Cemetery in Gorham.
