William was born in 1861. His birth was registered in the Auckland Union district.[1]

On 3 Apr 1881 William (aged 21), coal miner, was recorded as the son of William Edwards at 4 Surgery Row, Kelloe, Durham, England.[3]
On 5 Apr 1891 William (aged 29) was recorded as the head of household in Trimdon Grange Colly, Trimdon, Durham, England.[4]
On 31 Mar 1901 William (aged 39) was recorded as a husband in Kelloe, Durham, England.[5]
On 2 Apr 1911 William (aged 49), over man, was recorded as the married head of household at 7 Surgery Row Trimdon Grange, Kelloe, Durham, England.[6]
