Biography

Lena (Edwards) McCurry died from complications arising from the birth of Ruby Irene McCurry.

Very little is known about the life of Lena Edwards McCurry. She is believed to have been born in Caney Township, Nevada County, AR about February 1891. She was the daughter of James Filmore Edwards and Sarah Montgomery.

She married Homer Harrison McCurry on Jan 12, 1907 in Miller County, AR. Her marriage license would indicate a birth year of 1889 but it is suspected this was used to obtain the marriage license.

Homer and Lena had one daughter Ruby Irene McCurry who was born March 12, 1908. Lena died June 20, 1908, shortly after Ruby's birth. She is believed buried in an unmarked grave in the Baker-McCurry Cemetery.

It is known that one of Homer's sisters, Lucy Nevada McCurry married one of Lena's brothers, Monroe Edwards.
