Married Ruth Copeland of Scituate Dec. 1, 1757 and lived where Capt. N. Dwelley resided at the Four Corners.

Robert Lenthal Eells, who was an extensive landholder; one of the wealthiest citizens of his day; a man whose chief greatness consisted in the greatness of his soul; of unbounded hospitality; charitable; kind to the poor and the suffering; devoted to every thing public spirited; eminently patriotic; an able officer in the war of the Revolution; who opened his doors cheerfully and widely to all who were engaged in that struggle; and whose daughters, evinced their zeal for Liberty, in ministering to the wants of the soldiers, and in manufacturing cartridges for the use of the companies enrolled in the town."

The will of Robert Lenthall Eells of Hanover, blacksmith was dated 26 April 1799 and proved on 15 July 1800 in Plymouth. He mentioned his wife but not by name, his children, Robert Eells (executor), Joseph Eells (executor), Edward Eells, Samuel Eells, Ruth Young, Betty Barstow, Hulah C. Wing, Anne Lenthall Smith, Nabby Smith, Nathaniel Eells, and Lucy Barstow. [2]

His inventory was taken on 18 September 1800 in Hanover.[3]

In 1801, his estate was set out to his widow Ruth, and his children, Ruth Young, Betsey Barstow, Huldah C. Wing, Anna Lenthal Smith, Robert Eells, Nabby Smith, John Eells, Nathaniel Eells, Joseph Eells, Edward Eells, Lucy Barstow, and Samuel Eells.[4]

In 1802, an account of his estate by his executors was recorded which included cash and debts received, debts paid, freighting iron from Boston, appraisers, and administration fees.[5]
