He was first married to Mamie Lyle on Sep. 3, 1903 and they had a daughter, Mildred A. Egbert, b. 1904.
John then married Hazel Dubbs, daughter of Jackson Dubbs and Katherine Gagham, on Dec. 7, 1914 in Henry County, Ohio.[1] She had a son, Owen, by a previous relationship. Together they had a daughter, Lila Lee, b. 1924.
John was an employee of the Findlay Typewriter Company.
John died at the age of 90 years on Jan. 22, 1970 at the Hancock County Home in Findlay, Ohio.[2][3]
He is buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Deshler, Ohio.[4]
