Samuel Egleston (and variant spellings), son of Bigod and 2nd unknown wife, was b. say 1634, probably in Massachusetts.[1] This date is loosely based on his marriage and is an estimate only and could be earlier.
Marriage
Samuel Eggleston married Sarah Disbrough. ca. 1662 by the 1663 birth of their child. Sarah was the daughter of NIcholas. The inventory of Nicholas, dated 31 Aug 1683 named his four children including "Samuel Eglestone's wife" [1]
Windsor
Samuel grew up in Windsor, Connecticut, where his family settled about 1635. He was in charge of beating the drum to call people to meeting in 1651 and was made a freeman at Windsor May 1658.[2]
Middletown
He removed to Middletown, Connecticut and bought a house, 18 May 1663, located on Meeting House Square, from William Smith. 18 Jan 1689 he sold this to Rev. Noadiah Russell.[2]
Death
Samuel Eggleston died before 6 March 1690/1. He was a resident of Middletown at the time.
Will dated March 1686. Inventory of Samuel Eglestone Sr. of Middletown, taken March 6, 1690/1. The living children were named on the inventory: Samuel age 28, Sarah 21, Susannah 17, Nicholas 14, Mercy 12, Mary 9, Ebenezer 6 years of age. [3][4]
Ignore Find A Grave
There are two FindAGrave memorials for Samuel. Neither is based on any known source and neither is a good source. Find A Grave: Memorial #161518019, claims he was b. 1620 and buried at the Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. Find A Grave: Memorial #55398917 claims he was b. 1640 and doesn't have a death or burial.
Samuel may have been buried in Middletown where he and his wife died.
Marcy/Mercy Eggleston was b. 27 Jul 1679, Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut; d. 1726.; m1. John Benton (1671 - 1718); m2. Joshua Leete (1676 - 1742)[14]
Ebenezer Eggleston was b. 07 Jul 1684 Hartford, Hartford Co, Connecticut; d. 1751-00-00 Middletown, Hartford Co, Connecticut. possible death on 1717.
Samuel was born in 1640. He passed away in 1700.
