Hans Ehrenberg is Notable.

Hans Philipp Ehrenberg, better known as Hans Ehrenberg, was a German-Jewish philosopher and theologian who founded the Confessing Church in response to Nazism attempting to join all Lutheran churches under one pro-Nazi stance. He was born on 4 Jun 1883 in Altona-Hamburg, Deutsches Reich to parents Otto Ehrenberg and Emilie Fischel, the oldest of three sons. Hans had a good relationship with his cousin Franz Rosenzweig, a theologian, philosopher, and translator. One of his uncles was the mineralogist and natural philosopher Victor Mordechai Goldschmidt.[1]

In 1913, Hans married Else Anna Zimmermann (1890-1970), a linguist, teacher, and descendant of Martin Luther.

Hans and Else had two children:

  1. Juliane Ehrenberg
  2. Andreas (Andrew) Ehrenberg

Hans was forced to emigrate from Germany to England due to his Jewish ancestry and opposition to Nazism.

Hans passed away in Heidelberg, Baden, Westdeutschland on 21 Mar 1958.
