Her family probably settled in Montana, at least for a period of time, since some people thought she was born in that state. In 1919 she married Herman Ahlbrandt. At the time of the 1930 census, the couple had three children and lived in Veteran, Goshen, Wyoming.
By 1940, her oldest daughter was most likely married and living with her husband. Katharina, now know as Kathryn or Catherine, and her husband had one more child, Roland, who was born in 1937, plus her two older boys.
