From Rob Eilenberger Howell. When I moved to Stroudsburg in 1965 from Minnesota, I soon sought out any members of our Eilenberger family who, I was only in 1965 told by an aunt on Long Island, NY, had settled in this area. Yes, Christian settled in Upper Mt. Bethel around 1762. When I met Amy who was working at Wyckoff's Department Store, she pulled herself stiffly up and told me that I came from the family on "the other side of the mountain." That dismissal took me in search of those two brothers who came to Minisink Hills and set up a saw mill business! One of them was her forefather! Near Minisink Hills there is a street signpost reading "Eilenberger Rd" and on River Road, near the Delaware River, and 2 miles south of Shawnee Inn there is another street sign:"Eilenberger Landing."
