NOTES:

Five months before George and Philena were married, he and his brother, Clarence, were listed among the injured in a railroad wreck on the Kanawha and Michigan, which happened near Charleston, West Virginia. The date of the accident was 04 July 1891. The accident occurred due to a burning of the tracks; and, the fact that the track inspector had not yet viewed the burned part of the tracks before the train arrived there. The train was bound for Columbus, Ohio. Fourteen people were killed outright and three more were expected to die from their injuries. Many more were injured; George with a head injury and Clarence with bruised arms. The residence for both men was listed as Charleston. (Source: Wheeling Register, Monday, 06 July 1891.)

George Frederick was a retired painter when he died in Toledo, Ohio in 1942.
