Born in Herbitzheim, she married Johann Jacob Altman Feb. 22, 1724. They had six girls and four boys. The family emigrated to Pennsylvania on the ship "Phoenix," embarking from Rotterdam and arriving September 15, 1749, at Philadelphia. She died in Lehigh Township, Northampton County. Her tombstone inscription reads:
Here lies in the Lord Anna Maria Altman
Born in the year of Christ A.D. 1701
And died the 20th of March 1775.
I die cheerfully because I will someday rise again
Out of this dark and gloomy earth, my grave,
I will go forth glorified in great splendor and light.
With great joy I shall look upon God's countenance.
