She left her home parish on the 13 Mar 1914 to travel to America.[3]

On April 14, 1914, she arrived in Boston from Liverpool on board the RMS Carmania, a Cunard liner built in 1905. On the passsenger manifest, she is recorded as being age 16, a domestic worker, able to read and write, and Boston was her final destination. In 1920, Esther was 22 and living in a boarding house in Boston, where she was working as a companion for a private family. [5]

She worked for a wealthy Boston area family as a servant and came to Brooksville to accompany her employers while they were on vacation. It was there that she met Levi and they fell in love and engaged.[6]

Ekvall-9 and Ekvall-28 appear to represent the same person because: Hello, I have discovered the profile you made a few years ago of my great grandmother. Are you a descendant of Per Anton Ekvall? He was my uncle. I just got some info about their parents and grandparents in Sweden.
