Per land records in Virginia, Martin Elam I (Elam-117) gave his daughter Mary Elam, wife of Stephen Hamlin, 130 acres that they sold to Francis Patram I. Together, Francis and Frances Patram sold the land back to Martin Elam II in January 1700/1 in exchange for 23 acres in Bermuda Hundred. I think there were two Mary Elams born about the same time, one married Stephen Hamlin (Martin's daughter) and one married Thomas Gee (Gilbert's daughter). Further, per the At the Elam National Tercentennial, they proposed that Gilbert and Martin may have been brothers.
