Obedience Elam, born about 1724 in Henrico County, Virginia, was the daughter of
Robert Elam, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne Bolling. She grew up in a large family and was surrounded by the many cousins of the Elam and Bolling families. She married
Mr. Christopher Walthall, Sr. about 1746 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. There are four named children of this marriage. Obedience passed away after 1760 in Amelia County, Virginia.
"Christopher (4) Walthall was horn 1724. In March, 1757, there was a lawsuit in ' Chesterfield by Christopher Walthall and Obedience, his wife,' against Robert Elam. He probably lived in Amelia County as there is in Chesterfield a deed dated July 29, 1779, from Richard, son of Christopher Walthall, of Amelia, to James.Yates. Christopher <4) had at least one child, Richard (5)."
