Biography
Dora Ann Elam was born on December 11, 1870, in Confidence, a small unincorporated community in Wayne County, Iowa, when her father, Martin Jefferson Elam, was 30, and her mother, Harriet Cross, was 33. in 1880, her family was farming near Independence. [1]
She married Calvin Sheridan Teater on April 11, 1888, in Appanoose County, Iowa. [2] They had four children in 14 years. in 1900, they were back in Wayne County in the farming community of Wright. [3]
She died on June 22, 1942, in her hometown at the age of 71, and was buried in Appanoose County in the Concord Cemetery. [4]
