Biography

Lord Proprietor of Pemaquid, abt. 1647.

Thomas was the youngest son of Giles Elbridge, merchant of Bristol and his first wife Elizabeth Aldworth. Thomas was named in the 1643 will of his father Giles. ^[1]

He was described as being still under age and "beyond the seas" in the 1646 will of his brother John Elbridge. ^{[2] [3]}

On the deaths of his two eldest brothers he became the combined heir of both the Elbridge and Aldworth estates, which is how he came to be in sole posession of over 12 000 acres of land in New England, as well as considerable estates in his homeland.

Thomas and his wife Rebecca had several children baptised in Jamaica in 1682:
