ROBE, Nancy A. 83, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1927, the daughter of the late R. Newell and Nellie (Tuttle) Elder. Nancy attended Selma and Reid Schools and was a graduate of Plattsburg High School, class of 1945. She attended both Earlham College in Indiana and Wittenberg University. She was a member of the former Friends Quaker Church in Selma. Nancy loved her home that she and her husband Paul built in 1956. She enjoyed the deer, birds, flowers and nature from her home. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Paul Robe of 54 years; aunt, Anne Elder Parrott of Oberlin, Ohio; cousins, Lucille Sweet, John Elder, Andrew Elder, Mary Lou Spencer and Kenneth Elder all of Springfield, Martha E. Tuttle of Urbana, Mary T. Wisted and Susan Gotham both of Houston, Texas, Margaret Smith of Richmond, Indiana, Dean Elder of Canada and Robert Elder of Green Cove Springs, Florida; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie Robe of Springfield and Roger and Joanne Edmiston of South Charleston; special friends, Robert and Barbara Gray; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Thompson officiating at INGLING WILLIAMS & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME-South Charleston. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Charleston United Methodist Church and/or Community Mercy Health Partners Hospice.
