In 1868 Marion Eldred began a covered wagon trip to Missouri, leaving an expectant wife behind in Cleveland, Ohio. Henry D. Eldred was born a short time later. Mrs. Eldred and the new baby came by train to St. Louis to join her husband for the rest of the trip to their new home on the stream now called Eldred Branch which flows through Macks Creek.
