Hi Henk,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for checking up. It is taking me a bit longer than I thought just to move the information I had gathered in MyHeritage here because of lack of free time so have not yet looked beyond that. I did notice I got a message about some locations being too short so that made me wonder if there is a guideline for the location field for birth/death/marriage. Should it be the name of the town/village, the municipality it belonged to at the time, the municipality it belongs to now. And should it include things like province or country? If so, what language should the country be in since the names of most countries (and sometimes even cities) are translated into various languages.

For example, Scheveningen could be: Scheveningen, Zuid-Holland, Nederland or The Hague, South-Holland, The Netherlands or something in between.

Hi Henk,

I had the same thing when I started as I put my family in Northern Ireland when it should have been Ireland because the country hadn't been split then.Generally the names and locations should be as it was in the time the person in the profile lived. These links will help you with this. and

I hope these help, any problems please let me know

Take care Karen
