Obituary-Philadelphia Inquirer Dec. 11, 1989: JACK ELKAN, 75, of Mount Laurel, died Saturday at West Jersey Hospital- Marlton. Mr. Elkan formerly owned Jack's Tavern on Chapel Avenue in Pennsauken. He was a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in China, Burma and Indonesia. He was also a member of the South Jersey Hebrew Association and the South Jersey Tavern Owners Association. Survivors: his wife, Lena Schriber Elkan; two sons, Jeffrey R. of Audubon and Robert M. of Marlton; two grandchildren; a brother, Leon of Florida, and two sisters, Cecelia Granite of Pennsauken and Mary Elkan of Mount Laurel. Services: funeral, 1:30 p.m. today, Platt Memorial Chapels, 2001 Haddonfield-Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill; burial, Crescent Burial Park, Pennsauken.
